AREA ‘B’ MONUMENTAL GRAVES & AREA ‘C’ VAULTS

Yan Yean Cemetery Trust invites Tenders from suitably qualified and experienced contractors for the construction works associated with:
- YYCT Stage 2 - Area ‘B’ – New Monumental Graves
- YYCT Stage 2 - Area ‘C’ – New Vaults
- Associated earthworks, access paths and drainage
- Vault installation and associated infrastructure
- Landscape and garden bed works
- Traffic and pedestrian management
- Associated site establishment and reinstatement works
The works are located at:
Yan Yean Cemetery
2265 Plenty Road, Yan Yean VIC 3755
The works are to be undertaken in accordance with the relevant engineering drawings, landscape plans, specifications and AS 2124 General Conditions of Contract.

Tenderers should note that the anticipated date for Practical Completion is 22 February 2027, subject to the agreed construction program.
Yan Yean Cemetery Trust is not bound to accept the lowest or any tender.
Tenderers should allow for all labour, plant, equipment, materials, site management, traffic and pedestrian management, protection of existing cemetery infrastructure and trees, and coordination with cemetery operations and other contractors.
Tenderers are encouraged to carefully review the tender documentation and site requirements prior to submission.

Proposed Fee Application – Community Feedback
The Yan Yean Cemetery Trust is proposing to submit a Fee Application to the Department of Health – Cemeteries Division for consideration.
The application includes the introduction of new fees for the cemetery’s new section, as well as updates to a small number of existing fees.
Before submitting the application, the Trust is seeking feedback from our community and stakeholders. We welcome your views and encourage anyone interested to provide feedback by 25 August 2026.
Your feedback will help the Trust ensure the proposed fee structure provides fair and appropriate options for our community, while supporting the ongoing care, maintenance and development of Yan Yean Cemetery.

30/10/2025 - Important Notice to people with Plots on Hold
The Yan Yean Cemetery Trust has recently passed a motion regarding cemetery plots that have been placed on hold for an extended period.
We are reaching out to individuals who currently have a plot on hold at Yan Yean Cemetery. Each identified holder will be given the opportunity to purchase the plot on hold within the next 3 months.
If no response is received within 14 days of our initial contact, the plot will be released and made available for an at-need burial.
If you believe you have a plot on hold and have not yet been contacted, please reach out to our office to confirm your details.

ADVICE TO PUBLIC REGARDING EXTREME RAIN-WATER IMPACTS
Extreme rain events have impacted parts of the cemetery grounds. Please note that areas within the grounds may be holding surface water and may be slippery and/or unstable. Take all reasonable care when visiting.
Management acknowledges these circumstances and are currently engaging with suitable industry service providers to undertake a program of progressive infrastructure works to manage these circumstances.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to enhance the grounds.

New Cemetery Section Development
The Yan Yean Cemetery Trust is pleased to announce stage 1 development work of the new area (Southern Section) just behind the public toilets is commencing 16 May 2022.
This stage is the beginning of the development of the area according to the Trust’s masterplan, it will provide further opportunities for burials, memorialisation of loved ones and a beautiful place to reflect those who are no longer here. Our contractors are experienced working in the cemetery environment and will endeavour to minimise disruptions during the course of their work, taking the upmost care and respect of their surroundings.
Cemetery Grounds Maintenance
Yan Yean Cemetery acknowledges the vital importance of visiting a loved one at the cemetery, however at times in the interest of visitor's safety would like to advise visitors that due to the prolonged wet weather, sometimes there may be restricted access due to the ground’s conditions, there may be mud or waterlogged sections, if you are visiting during these conditions, please proceed with caution and wear appropriate footwear.
The Trust is committed in the maintenance of the cemetery grounds and its facilities; however, the cemetery is a not-for-profit run organisation and maintenance can be significant, the Trust endeavours to address each issue.
LES RUSSELL
LES Russell was a life member of the Yan Yean Cemetery Trust, dedicating 55 years to the Trust and a lifetime of dedication to the Whittlesea community. He was recognised with a posthumous Medal of the Order of Australia as part of the Governor-General’s Australia Day honours list.
Fire Within the Cemetery
The Trust values and respects the traditions and religious practices of our community. However, we must uphold the requirements of the law.
On TOTAL FIRE BAN DAYS, it is prohibited to light candles, oil lamps or any flames.
On FIRE DANGER PERIODS please do not leave candles & oil lamps or any other flames unattended.
Fire Danger Period: December through to May
